What is Jog-A-Thon?
The day of Jog-a-thon is an all day CELEBRATION! Jog-a-thon is a school wide initiative during which time students seek out pledges and donations from family and friends. In return- they run as many laps around the school field as they can with their classmates. Prior to running they get outfitted with a custom McKinley t-shirt in their grade color along with “flair”- tattoos, face paint, hair color, glitter- anything to make them feel fantastic while they run! Jog-a-thon is a day of community building and fun in support of our entire school!
The funds that we raise through the Jog-a-Thon are critical to running our school! PTA funds pay for:
- PE instructors from National Academy of Athletics to keep students active and to give teachers an important second planning period each week
- Community-building events such as popsicles at Meet the Teacher, dinner at Open House, Winter Fest in December, Mustang Social in the spring, and Field Day on the last day of school!
- Our Performing Arts program, After School Enrichment program, field trips and so many other school wide efforts and initiatives!
- Additionally, if YOU have ideas for how we can support the school and how we should allocate funds your PTA wants to know!
The funds that families raise for Jog-a-Thon are an investment in this school year. They are an investment in each student, TK through 8th, and their success and sense of belonging at PACS and McKinley. Every dollar we raise will go toward upholding our school mission to grow scholars who think critically, who celebrate diversity, and who advocate to make the world a better place. You make our community stronger with your support!
Your PTA will let you know when it is time to create an online donation page or you can collect donations in the manila envelope that will go home with your child. Or even better, both! And will your employer match the funds your family raises? It’s time to check! Our PTA is a registered non-profit organization and usually qualifies for matched donations.

JOG-A-THON INCENTIVES:
Every student who fundraises $1+ will be entered into a drawing for great prizes!
If every student in the grade participates in fundraising, the entire grade will receive a celebratory 45-minute recess + special activity.
The class to raise the most funds overall will receive a Pizza Party!
If we raise $75,000 as a whole school community, students will get to SLIME Principal Donahue!
The top fundraiser from each class will be invited to a VIP Party with Principal Donahue.
The top fundraiser overall will get to be PRINCIPAL FOR A DAY!
Every student who fundraises $300+ will be invited to “Dinner + Movie in the Multi” hosted by qualified PTA leaders while PARENTS/ GUARDIANS GET THE NIGHT OFF! (~6:00pm to 10:00pm, date/time TBD).
