McKinley’s TIDE Committee

Calling all McKinley/PACS parents, teachers, staff, and students!

Are you interested in making sure McKinley continues to be the diverse, kind, fair community it is today? Have ideas for ways we can strengthen the bonds that hold us together while we become even more tolerant and welcoming of our differences? How can we become even more equitable and inclusive in our practices and our outcomes?

Join McKinley’s new TIDE committee — part of a citywide effort called Petaluma TIDE (Team for Inclusivity, Diversity, and Equity).

Petaluma TIDE was formed earlier this year by a group of parents after hearing stories of racism and bias from high school students in Petaluma. TIDE is a community-led group exploring how to make our schools more safe, inclusive, and welcoming for all of our diverse TK-12 students, families, teachers, and administrators.

(Join the Petaluma TIDE Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/562908137539076/)

Involvement in McKinley’s TIDE committee may include:

  • Periodic meetings to discuss priorities for how McKinley TIDE could and should work
  • Participation in city-wide trainings on bias and equity
  • Helping to raise funding and awareness for these efforts at McKinley
  • Sharing what’s working at McKinley with other Petaluma City Schools
